What is World Book Day

World Book Day is a celebration of literature, whereby schools, parents, and just about everyone around the UK take part in a variety of activities to celebrate their love of books.World Book Day is the world’s biggest campaign to provide every child and young person in the country with a book of their own,£1 Tokens are given to children to choose a book from any major bookstore in exchange for any of the official World Book Day £1 Books.In the UK World Book Week usually falls on the first Thursday in march, With brand new books from a whole host of celebrity authors and also the return of some childhood favourites giving a younger generation of children the chance to enjoy the same characters and stories we ourselves grew up with. Children will automatically get involved in all the fun at school. Children and teachers are all encouraged to dress as their favourite book character, with fun and games designed to to encourage children to explore the pleasures of books and reading. Costumes can be as simple, silly or spectacular as you like, with prizes often handed out for the best outfit.
